Yoga Philosophy offers a cognitive framework that leads to vibrant and vital bodies and mind, deep and long-lasting contentment and a peacefully interconnected life. Classes explore foundational theory including Yoga Sūtra of Patañjali, the Guṇa-s, 5 Elements of Nature and encourages student centered awareness and self-discovery within the context of our modern world.
The Yoga Sutra is the foundational classical text on the Science of Yoga: the science of the mind and empowered mental well-being. The sutras are comprised of 195 verses, organized into 4 chapters.
Each class includes word-for-word translations, exploration of micro to macro philosophical themes and most importantly, discussion around the way these ancient tools and strategies may support a more connected modern life. With each deliberate, concise line, this text beautifully offers insight into practical strategies to navigate a life filled with joy and meaning.
Classes meet in-person at the Grateful Desert Cabin. Participants are invited to wear comfortable clothing, bring supportive props for sitting, tools for note taking and a nourishing snack or simple afternoon / evening meal. Classes may include gentle movement or breath practices related to pertinent course theme exploration.
